Holiday homeSince the summer of 2015 we have been the proud owners of a village house situated in the center of Malaucène, one of the tree villages at the foot of the Mont Ventoux.
With over 150 m² our house offers a “pleasant” home for up to 6 people. The house is situated in the oldest part of the center of Malaucène, right next to the imposing St.Michel Church and next to the famous St. Alexis Chapel, renovated by Michael Bastow. The house itself is particularly authentic. When entering the house you will find yourself in the fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a washing machine, a microwave oven, a stove with 4 plates, an oven, a large fridge and freezer, a coffee machine, and all the necessary kitchen utensils, crockery set, etc.… When you go through the door and take the steps, you will walk into the relaxation area and the dining area. When you go through the door on the right you will find an extra toilet with a storage room for cleaning equipment, vacuum cleaner, ironing board and an iron, … On the first floor there are 2 bedrooms, both with a double bed. There is one room furnished with a bunk. There is also room for a baby bed if necessary. On the same floor there is a spacious, renovated bathroom with a bath/shower, toilet and sink. On the next floor you will find the relaxation room with a corner sofa, a TV, DVD's and board games. Here you'll find our rooftopterrace, a BBQ and everything you find for relaxing days in the Provençal sun. |
History |
The foundations are built on old Roman wine cellars and expansions from the Middle Ages. There even is a secret passage, underneath the street leading to the Church! Unfortunately, these parts are not accessible to our guests, but it is very nice to know.
Opening the typical Provençal shutters at dawn, what could be more romantic? Let the sun open your eyes and enjoy the silence in a traditional Provençal village. One of our rooms has the original “tomettes”, old firered glazed natural clay tiles in the typical dark red color, which have been there since the 1930s. All the wood that is used in our house came from the flanks of the Mont Ventoux. The original old stairs and iron railings are characteristic of a village house. At the top of the house you will find our roof terrace, une terasse tropézienne, as it is called. You have a beautiful view over the oldest buildings in the village, the green hills and the impressive church. |
